What to know as speed camera trailers hit Kiwi roadsides
Trailer-mounted speed cameras are appearing on New Zealand roadsides as the transport agency expands automated enforcement.
The trailers can be moved between locations and operate without a staffed vehicle, allowing enforcement on stretches of road where fixed cameras are impractical.
Officials say the placement is based on crash history rather than revenue, and that signage and public location data are part of the approach.
Drivers caught exceeding the limit will receive infringement notices in the post in the same way as with fixed cameras.
